Enter the circuit your electrician has or will install, and we'll show the largest standard charger it supports and the power it delivers.

Ask a licensed electrician first

This tool applies general rules only. A licensed electrician needs to check your panel capacity and load, wire size, breaker, outlet or hardwired connection, GFCI requirements and local permits before anything is installed.

How it works

A charger runs for hours at a time, so electrical codes treat it as a continuous load: it may draw at most 80% of the circuit's rating.

Power in kilowatts is amps × volts ÷ 1000. The car charges at the lower of the charger's power and its own onboard charger limit.
