How it works

Energy = miles × kWh per 100 miles ÷ 100. Cost = home energy × home rate + public energy × public rate.

EPA kWh/100 mi ratings already include charging losses (they are measured at the wall outlet), so no extra loss factor is added. EPA: Fuel Economy and EV Range Testing. Real-world use varies with weather, speed and charging equipment.

Time-of-use plans, demand charges, monthly fees and taxes aren't included. Public prices often vary by station, time and membership.
